Serial Focus Groups: A Longitudinal Design for Studying Interactive Discourse

چکیده
Focus group methods specialize in the analysis of interactive discourse, but are only rarely employed as a stand-alone method to study such phenomena, owing inherent limitations concerning comparability and generalizability findings. In this paper, we argue that focus groups undergo three kinds transformations, involving changes participants’ cognitive states, social ties, discursive behavior, which raise both analytic challenges valuable opportunities for shared meanings negotiation processes society. Introducing Serial Groups, extend familiar designs studying discourse longitudinal perspective, capitalizing on potentials raised by these transformations. Reviewing methodological literature drawing upon two large-scale studies socially sense-making, serial can help overcome some cross-sectional offer new validation.

Design and Kinematic Analysis of a 4-DOF Serial-Parallel Manipulator for a Driving Simulator
This paper presents the kinematic analysis and the development of a 4-degree-of-freedom serial-parallel mechanism for large commercial vehicle driving simulators. The degrees of freedom are selected according to the target maneuvers and the structure of human motion perception organs. Several kinematic properties of parallel part of the mechanism under study are investigated, including the inve...
متن کاملClassroom Discourse Analysis as a Tool for Reflective Practice: Focus on Form Approach
The present research aimed at investigating the interaction of the classroom talk to have a better understanding of the teachers’ practice teaching which can pave the way for reflection on teaching. The study benefitted from conversation analytic perspective to qualitatively and interpretively examine the classroom discourse of the teacher-learner interaction. The classroom talk was analyzed th...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
